Events

Both introductory and advanced sailing camps will be offered at the New Roads Waterfront Pavilion and Pier. A detailed schedule of camps will be provided in late February or early March 2026.

To register for the advanced sailing camp, participants have to have completed an introduction to sailing camp.

Applications for the camps will be available on this site during the first week in March.

Instructional Sailboat

The instructional sailboats used for both the introductory and advanced sailing camps are O’Pen Skiffs. The campers are organized into teams of two and jointly sail the instructional sailboat.

Restrictions and Benefits

Camps are offered to youths 8-17 years of age.

Each participant must provide their own lunch. Snacks and water will be available.

There is no cost to campers for participation in sailing camps.

Campers will be provided a textbook and water bottle at no cost. PFD’s will also be provided for use at no cost if needed.

Each camp is limited to 10 campers but a minimum of 6 campers is required.

Participants must demonstrate the ability to swim 25 yards while wearing a PFD.

Participants are required to wear closed-toed, preferably lace-up shoes that are water-tolerant.

Participants should bring a backpack with a change of clothes and a towel daily. Hats and sunglasses are also recommended.
